Thank you to everyone who joined us for Tie Kearny Pink: Making an Impact. We raised the pink flag, tied ribbons along Kearny Avenue and Town Hall Park, and welcomed residents to our Community Health & Wellness Resource Fair, which offered health education and resources.
We were honored to hear remarks from the Honorable Mayor Carol Jean Doyle; Tie Kearny Pink founder Ava De Castro Lawdanski; Senator Angela V. McKnight; Assemblyman Jerry Walker; former Governor James McGreevey, Executive Director and Chairman of NJ Reentry Corporation; and Ken McKenna, Founder and President of Minette’s Angels.
Thank you to the breast cancer survivors who shared their powerful stories: Kearny resident Ann Papa, Jacqueline Sassi, Ana Maria Latushko, President of the Kearny Chapter of UNICO, and Let’s Talk Founder Deborah Q. Belfatto.
A special congratulations to Ava, who received a New Jersey Senate citation recognizing her work on breast cancer awareness and education in our community.
Mayor Carol Jean Doyle also issued a proclamation declaring October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the Town of Kearny, and presented it to Ava in recognition of Tie Kearny Pink’s work in our community.
